The development of the modern economy is impossible without the regular exchange of experience. Scientific journals remain one of the main forms of scientific communication. For economists, this is primarily economic periodical literature, an information platform that makes the exchange of experience accessible, constant, and relevant.

1999 is the starting point of the scientific and practical journal "Vestnik of Samara State University of Economics". Its creation was initiated by the Rector of the Samara State Economic Academy, Professor, Doctor of Economic Sciences A.P. Zhabin.

From 1999 to 2007, the journal was named "Vestnik of Samara State Economic Academy".

After the institution received a new status in 2005 – becoming a university – the journal's name was changed to "Vestnik of Samara State University of Economics", which it retains to this day.

On November 29, 2012, the journal was registered by the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) Mass Media Registration Certificate PI No. FS77-51968.
